Webber Canyon Road is a farm-to-market-road, with many heavily loaded, large trucks that travel through the residential streets of Kiona. The road also passes through an at-grade railroad crossing, to reach Interstate 82 and their markets. The current configuration presents safety concerns for through-traffic, pedestrians, cycles, and trains.
The proposed project provides a more direct route for the truck traffic, which bypasses Kiona, and includes an overpass bridge for the trains. The proposed plan would improve sight distance, provide well-defined intersections, and furnish new sidewalks. This is the final segment of a much larger Benton County improvement project for Webber Canyon Road that will stimulate economic growth for the region.
